This, at first, felt like a documentary about rich people problems and I really didn't care about it.
I had little sympathy for these individuals mainly because, well, you don't really know people, and you especially don't know random strangers you meet on the internet. I feel like the amount of trust these individuals keep in a rando they might meet online is wild.
That's red-flag number one for me.
And then of course there's a cult and the caveat that goes with every cult - why didn't they just leave?
Well, why doesn't anybody just leave? There is something keeping them there, obviously, but is it material or is it something more complex?
Of course, it is.
People were being treated poorly, scammed of their money, signing NDAs in church, and being isolated from their families.
Based on the audio recordings of Robert Shinn, he is just another cult leader looking to rule the world and own all the money and control all the people.
Then of course we learn that he's done this before.
Goooooooo Justice system!!!
Former members came forward to stop Robert Shinn for a second time. You heard me right. Literally.
And of course, he was sexually assaulting several women under the guise of religious piety. I'm so over it at this point. Like, I wasn't even shocked.
In the end, one of the original victims began a lawsuit including a ton of the dancers against Robert Shinn, and the papers were served.
Then, the current victims start contacting the first round of victims and begin to build up evidence and witnesses in order to somehow build this case against him, but in the end, the state has to pick up a criminal case against him in order to put him behind bars for good.
So they start reaching out to different former members and some report what happened, some don't, and in the end we see most of the former members struggling with what they went through.
And then one of the daughters blames her father for everything? I didn't agree with that at all, but I guess if it helps her break through her bullshit then that's a good thing in the end. She finally goes to the police and reports Robert Shinn.
Months later? Nothing has happened. Not surprised there either.
Goooooooo Justice System!!!
So we see how the victims are experiencing their freedoms again, and seeing that some of the families are still devastated over what happened.
In the end, the Justice System in our beautiful country has failed yet again, and there are victims still being raped, sexually assaulted, and financially abused at 7M Management & Shekinah Church in California.
Allegedly.
